Hidden cameras show how women and men are treated differently in pawn shops - as female customers shortchanged by up to 60%
In one hidden camera test location, the pawn shop broke not only offered Rebecca less than Jacob - but offered to take out for dinner as well

A social experiment has revealed how women are being ripped off in pawn shops - being offered up to 60 per cent less in pawn shops for the same diamond ring.

Using hidden cameras, the experiment sent a man, experienced jewellery expert Jacob Worth, and a woman, Rebecca, to the same secondhand goods outlets to sell the same diamond ring.

The experiment was targeted at locations in Manhattan's so-called Diamond District by Mr Worth's company, I Want What's It's Worth, which says it was able to sell the ring for $18,000.

At the first location Rebecca is offered $6,000 for the ring.

However, the same store offered Jacob $10,000.
